Intentional or not this movie takes a simple concept and makes a comical, entertaining (for mostly the wrong reasons) look into the world of Ethel. From the title Criminally Insane sounds like your typical slasher film about an escaped mental patient. You would be wrong, it is in fact about a obese mental patient that kills anyone who doesn't let her eat excessive amounts of food. Sounds like a gem doesn't it?

So pleased you added this film to your reviews. Stands way out in front on my all time favorites. It's a rare gem of sorts in a mine of garbage that is so many B, C and D class movies. It is it's own Hunger Game watching what happens when food is denied to the deranged. Ethel must be fed, and often.
